A little food, a little fun, a little soul, a little sun, a little green, a little grow, The Little Veggie Patch Co.
Pop Up Patch was The Little Veggie Patch Co’s city backyard. We transformed what was once an unused car park into a community gardening paradise. Over 140 veggie crates were installed on the site which were rented by Pop Up Patch (PUP) members – residents, restaurants and businesses – who tended to the gardens and enjoyed the enviable benefits (including 360° views of Melbourne’s iconic skyline!)
Pop Up Patch is NOW CLOSED. While the main focus was on growing food, PUP was an urban oasis where you could escape the hustle and bustle of city life. We held special members’ events, BBQs, movie nights and table-tennis comps and when the weather cooled down we warmed up with a hearty bowl of soup, prepared straight from the gardens!
Pop Up Patch was also an education center, hosting a range of food, gardening and kids’ workshops that catered for all skill sets. These included Edible Gardening for Beginners, Scarecrow Making and Pickling Workshops.
Pop Up Patch was a place for community and learning – for people to gather, grow, share and celebrate the joy of food. We hope to find an alternate site for Pop Up Patch in the near future. STAY TUNED!
