Spanish Roja is a hardneck garlic variety - producing a tall, sturdy scape, which is often used in cooking - that originated in Spain and is known for its strong, pungent flavour. The bulbs are typically large, with 8-12 cloves per bulb. The outer skin of the bulb is often a pale brown or tan colour, while the inner cloves are a light brown to reddish-brown colour. It is known for its ability to store well, often lasting for up to 6-8 months in proper storage conditions.
In terms of growing characteristics, Spanish Roja is more suited to colder climates, but will also do well in temperate conditions.
