Aluminium Sulphate (ALUM) is used to acidify the soil, in cases when the soil is too alkaline or you required a more acidic soil for growing particular crops; such is the case when growing blueberries for example.  

ALUM must be added to the soil prior to planting. Check the soil pH after a couple of weeks and then monitor for best planting time depending on your variety.
