We provide a number of options, from Veggie Crate only, to DIY packs (with all the ingredients to set it up yourself) or the Little Veggie Patch Co team can come and install and plant out on your behalf. We also offer ‘self watering’ wicking crate options for those that may struggle to find the time to water themselves, or simply want to make the growing process easier.
All veggie crate options can come with castors - given your space is hard and smooth - making them mobile, as well as netting that will keep out a number of seasonal pests.
The care we take to line and reinforce these crates is the key to their longevity and you can expect more than 10 years of loyal service from your Veggie Crate.

SIZES
Full Crate
Our full sized veggie crates are made from FSC approved, non-treated, 25mm a-grade pine. Measuring 1.16m by 1.16m (0.73m in height), they provide approximately 1.3m2 of growing space - with 30cm planting depth - giving plenty of opportunity to grow and harvest your own vegetables and herbs.
Half Crate
Our half sized veggie crates are made from FSC approved, non-treated, 25mm a-grade pine. Measuring 1.16m by 0.58m (0.73m in height), they provide approximately 0.7m3 of growing space - with 30cm of planting depth - and are designed to give meaningful growing real estate in even smaller spaces. Perfectly suited to balconies, courtyards and narrow passage ways, where a larger veggie crate just isn’t possible.
OPTIONS
Crate only
Lined crate that is fitted with a false bottom, reducing the amount of soil required and preventing the rotting of the base of the crate. The standard false bottom allows for 30cms of soil depth - ideal for all vegetables - however this depth can be customised to suit fruit tree planting if required.
DIY Pack
Veggie Crate, fitted with a false bottom, plus our own special recipe to fill it up yourself! It includes organic compost, potting mix, cow manure, worm castings + more earthy goodness. The DIY option comes with a 10% discount on multiple crate orders; use coupon code 'multicrate'.
Ready to Plant
Veggie Crate filled up onsite using our own special & organic recipe by The Little Veggie Patch Co team. The ready to plant option comes with a 10% discount on multiple crate orders; use coupon code 'multicrate'.
Planted
Veggie Crate filled up onsite using our own special & organic recipe, and then planted out with your choice of seasonal seeds and seedlings by The Little Veggie Patch Co team. The planted option comes with a 10% discount on multiple crate orders; use coupon code 'multicrate'.
Wicking Crate Only
A "self-watering" wicking crate that comes fitted with a food-safe rubber pond-liner, wicking fabric and the inflow/overflow valves. Does not include scoria or organic soil medium.

Netting
Netting is installed as part of our installation options (ready to plant + planted), otherwise it comes as a DIY kit that includes:
- 2 x 4m lengths of frame piping
- 8 u-brackets
- fine-mesh, animal friendly, insect net
- screws
DELIVERY
Delivery of your veggie crate/s is usually between 3 and 14 days after purchase. A Little Veggie Patch Co team member will be in contact once your order has been placed to confirm a suitable delivery day/time
If you are unable to be home during the delivery timeframe, the veggie crate/s will be left in a safe space that has been agreed upon or if access can be provided the Little Veggie Patch Co team can install without you needing to be there
